Hi Des,

Not to worry about being busy, Lord knows our
schedules are super hectic now, and sadly that doesn’t
leave us with much time to do much of anything other
than figure out what we’re going to be doing with
ourselves say, a year or even a few months from now.

I suppose I can see why you’d think I couldn’t work
out in a business partnership, but the truth is I only
couldn’t work with someone like yourself. I like to
receive credit for my work, period.
When you copy
someone else’s style, of course people are going to
think your work, as well as the person whose style it
was originally, is yours. That’s all well and good
for the person copying the style, but for the person
who came up with it and had done original works with
it before you decided to swipe his/her style, it bites
big time. If being too controlling means I like to
receive credit for things that *I* have done, then
hey, no argument, label me too controlling.
But at
the same time, I can and have been in some very
successful partnerships when I got into the TF
community. My work is my own, and even if I color
someone else’s work, people KNOW the drawing belonged
to so and so, and the coloring was mine. No one tried
to copy my style; they came up with their own both in
the area of drawing and coloring. But as you even
said, you’ve never had it happen to you so you can’t
relate. The people I’m currently working with have
and understand what it’s like to work hard on a body
of work and pretty much have it yanked out from under
you. I suppose you can emphasize, but nothing
replaces that lovely feeling of putting a lot of care
and effort into something only to have credit for it
go to someone else. When that happens to you, and on
a consistent basis no less, let me know how that makes
you feel.
As for the Mermaid man thing, didn’t I say I’d never
seen the guy before? Of course I thought you made
him.

Anywho,

I hope graduation went well for you, thank God you’re
finally done with that university and can focus on
going to graduate school. Have you had any luck
locating something that’s actually within the state of
Florida? It’d be too bad if you couldn’t, but at the
same time it might be a nice way to escape the house
if you were to find something far away from home.
My second graduation will be sometime next week I
think. I’m not too keen on going through the ceremony
again, but I figure I owe it to my parents since they
did pay for me to go through the masters program in
the first place.

Hmm, I can relate to the whole getting up at 5am
thing, it really, REALLY stinks. I hope the pay
they’re giving you makes up for that. Still, it’s
nice that you’ve landed something you like, not many
people can say they have. Yes, definitely give me
some details on what it is you’ve been doing at the
zoo, I’m curious.

Alrighty, I have to run, but I’ll talk to you later,
Tom
